Messages to public authorities

We hear: “Decarbonation measures are bogged down: policies are unable to reconcile the freedoms of individuals and the competitiveness of businesses”.

This is often true: taxes and bans block consensus. But carbon competition is reopening the game.

For public authorities, enlarged carbon accounting opens up a new, highly cost-effective policy tool that reconciles decarbonation, the freedom of players and competitiveness by using reliable measures to trigger fair competition.

It is up to them, all parties, all communities and all countries combined, to provide a favourable framework for carbon competition:

-By experimenting with enlarged public accounting, enlarged budgetary procedures and enlarged public procurement contracts.

-By guaranteeing the completeness and accuracy of carbon weights, including for foreign products.

-By helping small businesses to enlarged their accounts.
