Carbon statistics

The public statistics needed by economic players

(These statistics are to be provided by the public authorities or carried out under their supervision)

– Enrich the European product nomenclature for items with a wide range of carbon weights (based on length of use, e.g. textiles; based on animal or plant characteristics, e.g. food products).

– Provide the professions with carbon-relevant products: the total sales volume, the average unit weight of the market, a default weight for suppliers with no weight or with an unreliable weight (imports, starting with hydrocarbons); and provide all producers with the same emission factor for everything that is not carbon-relevant for them.

– Develop enlarged national carbon accounting: to help public policy debates, reconcile micro and macroeconomic carbon performance and facilitate collective trade-offs between income growth and decarbonation.
