Label Transmission
Promote producers who transmit to their customers the carbon impact of their products
Along with others, Carbones-factures.org (a group of volunteer experts) is preparing an appeal to the public authorities in October for a Transmission label. The label will recognise THE transition best practice for a producer: the transmission to customers of the carbon impact of its products (including financial products).
A Transmission label will change everything for the carbon transition
The carbon threat is a general and growing concern that is not easy to tackle in a simple and consensual way.
We all want to decarbonise our regions. To achieve this, everyone must be free to choose their purchases and investments in a way that takes account of the carbon threat. Every buyer or investor, whether an individual or a professional, needs to know the carbon impact of the purchase or investment they are considering.
Is this difficult? No, any producer, private or public, now has simple and rigorous means of measuring the greenhouse gas (or carbon) content of their products (even very small businesses thanks to free calculators).
All that’s missing is one piece of the jigsaw: encouraging producers to transmit to their customers the carbon impact of what they offer.
How can we do this? By promoting producers ‘who transmit’. This can be done at no cost if they benefit from a Transmission label and advantages in public contracts, funding, aid, the right to ‘green’ advertising, etc.
This is the aim of the campaign we are preparing. We hope that it will be widely supported by those who are convinced that carbon measurement is necessary for a successful transition, in the economy and civil society, scientists and academics, businesses, NGOs, opinion leaders, etc.
